The Pioneer Trail at Ste-Edwidge-de-Clifton Wilfrid Morache

WILFRID MORACHE
1856-1920

The Parish priest of Ste-Edwidge-de-Clifton from 1886 until his death, Father Morache began his work by supervising the construction of the church, which was already under way. In addition to endowing his parish with a manse—the construction of which was disputed and delayed a little by part of his flock—Pastor Morache tended to the morals of his parishioners. Known for his hot temper, he was also very much involved in the promotion of temperance. He is buried in the parish cemetery.

Drawing from his personal journal, which he kept updated on a regular basis, he will entertain you about agriculture and education, as well as his pastoral duties. Should you meet some of his parishioners, they will certainly point out the unique architecture of their church. They will also mention the important efforts being made to maintain this heritage building in Sainte-Edwidge.
