The Pioneer Trail at Saint-Herménégilde Marie-Marthe Paquin-Crête
MARIE-MARTHE PAQUIN-CRÊTE
1923-2006
Mrs. Crête, as she was always known following her marriage in 1945, was recognized by the people of St. Herménégilde as an exceedingly noble-hearted woman. She was renowned for taking care of others even before thinking of hers own needs. Born with a debilitating physical handicap, she was unable to walk until the age of five. From then on she lived a very active life. Although she was the mother of ten children, she also devoted herself to some one hundred youngsters whom Social Services entrusted to her care over a twenty-year period. The door to her house and to her heart was always open.
